About the exam

The exam assesses operational communication in English against six ICAO descriptors: pronunciation, structure, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, interactions. The final grade is the lowest of the six.

How the ICAO level works

You do not choose your level: it is assigned after the exam. Your six descriptors (pronunciation, structure, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, interactions) are each rated 1 to 6, and your final grade is the lowest of the six. Level 4 (operational) is valid 4 years, level 5 (extended) 6 years, level 6 (expert) for life. The platform trains every descriptor so you comfortably clear level 4 on all six.
